Took a friend to the optometrist office to help pick out frames. Walking in, I notice the local Mercedes dealership courtesy van pulling away. As it leaves, behind it I see a nice Merc parked. Walk over to take a look and it is an SL 65 (not 63 as reported earlier) AMG. Nice car I think to myself. Then I notice the front fender which has V12 Biturbo badge on it. I need to go back to school. There must be a lot of money in them eyeballs. No Sr20 cause the DD left phone in his truck at friends house. But looked like this except black.

That is gorgeous. I've always said that if I became filthy rich, I'd buy a Benz to tool around in just to be pretentious.

Yes you certainly do. My previous optometrist has (IIRC) two or three stores he has opened under his name and after daily driving a Dinan 535i Touring and a Leaf for a few years ordered a Panamera and then an RS5 last year. It's quite a lucrative field I imagine.

I shudder to think the contraptions I'd have custom built if I were filthy rich.

it isn't about schooling. The few eye doctors I know aren't that rich though. Comfortable, but not like that. Get yourself a great idea, work at it, and monetize that way. Otherwise we'll see you in 7 years just out of eyeball school as low man on the totem pole working 80 hours a week for 100K a year drowning in student loans

Yup. Unfortunately I can't handle the pressure of medical practices, so I've had to settle on a motorsports engineering degree.

For the money, I would rather drive this...

You're so reassuring, 505. :)

Dentistry? That's not lucrative? Podiatry I bet is a goldmine: http://www.jsonline.com/business/12495…
Not picking on mechanics/car dealers but really any field where your customers have to take your word on whether a service is necessary or not. Dental sealants, duct cleaning, driveway sealcoating, you need new valve cover gaskets for $200, you need this heart catheterization procedure and a stent or two, especially this super expensive but not any better drug-eluting stent, etc etc

I was thinking to myself that sounded harsh. Sorry man!

You poor guy. :)

I know right, I may have to work for some low tier endurance team. Like Corvette Racing or something equally as awful. :D

Minor nitpick... the SL63, to the best of my knowledge, has always had a V8. The only models with the V12 Biturbo badge are the SL600 and the SL65.

My optometrist just got a Ghibli.

You want to be an ophthalmologist, not an optometrist.

After I posted that I thought that I must have got it wrong cause I thought the 63 had a V8, too. The sun was reflecting off that side of the car I was on so I probably read it wrong. Good point, Detective Gamecat .

Not harsh to me. Kinda funny.

My brain is FILLED with useless information, but occasionally there are conversations where it is actually something I can blurt out without sounding like an insane person.

On the other hand maybe it was an SL65 and I read that wrong. Maybe I should have made an appointment while I was there.

Me too I had to spellcheck it :D

You don't have to be an optometrist to buy a Charger though :)

Updated post filed. It was a 65. I went to get lunch and took phone this time and went by there to see.
